The Lawrence County YMCA is incredibly honored to host our annual Jack and Nancy Flannery Salute for Pastor David M. Young Sr.! Pastor Young has dedicated over 30 years of his life towards spiritual leadership and full-heartedly embodies the YMCA’s core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.
About the Salute Award
This award is being given in memory of Jack and Nancy Flannery, who exemplified servant leadership, commitment to our community, and the YMCA’s core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. The Lawrence County YMCA is pleased to honor their legacies with an annual award to a person or group of people who embody the spirit of these core values.
Pastor David M. Young Sr.
Pastor Young is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Prevailing Word World Outreach Center in New Castle and has been serving in Christian ministry for over 30 years. Pastor Young founded “Strive for Excellence,” a character development course he has taught in local high school classrooms and student body assemblies.
In addition, Pastor Young served as chaplain at the Youth Development Center for over ten years, and is the former President of the Greater New Castle Christian Ministerial Fellowship. He is currently the President of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, and Fatherhood Specialist with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lawrence County, where he mentors men on how to be a good man and father, at the agency, Lawrence County Jail, Highland House and All-Pro Dads at George Washington High School.
He has also received numerous commendations and proclamations, including a Community Service Award presented to him and his wife Diane from Vision Ministries through
their Braveheart Testimonial Dinner. Pastor Young has demonstrated a true spirit of servant leadership by reflecting the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
